“What’s wrong with the current set up?” asks MaxChaos.
“Readers pay a nominal sum for a newspaper. However, advertising is at the core of the business model, so Franklin wants a wider footprint for the paper. That will bring in a wider collection of readers and businesses, and that means advertisers!
“And the Garrison?”
“For them the attraction is potential recruits! The more people involved in breeding and managing horses, the better. The best recommendation for a Garrison job is word of mouth. And who doesn’t like horses? That’s the whole reason CandiCrush joined the Garrison in the first place.”
“So you do actually know about the trip?”
“Yes, but I only know the reasons behind it, I don’t know the practical details, Kristal and CandiCrush were sorting out the diary today, transport, accommodation, contacts, meetings. I know that I’m going, but I haven’t a clue how business trips actually work”
“Why you two?” asks MaxChaos.
“I work in the newspaper business don’t I? And she can talk to horses!”
“And you said you were going to share some ideas with us.” says HayWire.
“Basically, I’ve just started sharing some information! You have to go out and do things. When I got my part time PrintWorks job I never thought I would become a pathfinder and a roving ambassador for the Garrison. You have to get involved in stuff, you don’t have to know where it might lead. Go out, do things, meet people. Half of them will be girls. Open doors to more doors that open. Talk to people face to face.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” says HayWire.
“It doesn’t have to be big adventures, try something new, easy stuff, like baking cakes, local stuff, join the karate club here, just do stuff, go out and do stuff, and you will get a social life. Clubs, societies, activities, OpenMike Night, anything. When was the last time you did something for the first time?”
